Like many other industries, financial services are subject to vastly increased regulation and supervision, to the benefit of you the client. However, this has made it increasingly difficult; indeed, virtually impossible, to be a GP of the financial services world.

When the Financial Services Authority began to regulate mortgages in October 2004 – M Day – this really highlighted the issue. Many advisers simply stopped arranging mortgages and the complexity of advice and products available across the spectrum means that more and more firms are specialising like Independent James. Combined with our increasingly litigation happy society, I believe that specialisation in Independent Financial Advice can only continue.

With this in mind, I perceived available support across all areas being a vital tool in the box. Being a thorough holistic planner via a network of trusted individuals as opposed to simply saying, “Sorry, I can’t help. Goodbye!” Being able to help you along the way towards specific, tailored financial advice from a number of different connections and trusted sources.
